As part of the research and design development for the hypothetical Laura Ashley S / S 2013 Home Interiors Collection brief, I have decided to research a variety of acclaimed printed textiles and surface pattern designers, one of which, Orla Kiely, is highly regarded within the industry.
Inspired by 1960's and 70's colour palettes with bold designs, often inspired by bold and geometric flora and fauna, this renovated style has now taken a turn to be utterly contemporary, cool, and an inspiration to many.
Although I think that Steph and I will be taking a far more traditional approach to image making, as a reflection of the Laura Ashley print archive, we will undoubtedly take inspiration from Kiley in regards to her bold use of colour, and the wonderful application of pattern throughout a variety of surfaces and textiles.
