FMP | A Dangerous Method

Yesterday, after a long time of hoping to see the film, I finally found the time to watch David Cronenberg's 'A Dangerous Method', which depicts the true story of the series of events that bought psychoanalysts and therapists, Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud together.

'On the eve of World War I, Zurich and Vienna are the setting for a dark tale of sexual and intellectual discovery. Drawn from the true- life events, A DANGEROUS METHOD explores the turbulent relationships between fledgling psychiatrist Carl Jung, and his mentor Sigmund Freud and Sabina Spielrein, the beautiful but disturbed young woman who comes between them.

Sensuality, ambition and deceit set the scene for the pivotal moment when Jung, Freud and Sabina come together and split apart, forever changing the face of modern thought.'

Having a natural, and insatiable interest in the theories and practices of Carl Jung, the film, of course, was of personal interest, as well as now being able to apply it through my editorial design work throughout the Jung Myers - Briggs : Typology brief for the Final Major Project module.

The film gives more insight from an artistic and cultural perspective of Jung's life and works, and has inspired me to acknowledge him throughout the body copy and editorial design, along with Myers -Briggs, to offer a background insight into the theories and practices which formulated the acclaimed personality typology test, also providing information on further reading to develop the understanding of the readers of the publication.
